Charles Chang is Professor of Finance, Deputy Director of Academics and Director of the Fintech Research Center at the Fanhai International School of Finance, Fudan University. From 2010-2017, Professor Chang was a faculty member at the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where he served as Faculty Director of the Master’s Program, the International Affairs Office, and the LIVE Learning Center. He also serves on the faculty at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and, prior to returning to Asia, spent six years on the professorial faculty at Cornell University.
Professor Chang’s research spans the fields of investments, corporate finance, and behavioral finance with a focus on emerging markets. He has served as a research fellow for the National Science Council in Taiwan, has received grants from the China Natural Science Foundation, and has been invited as a visiting scholar to a number of academic institutions. His work has been noted in more than 200 media outlets with work published in top journals such as the Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal of Corporate Finance, the Journal of International Money and Finance, the Journal of Banking and Finance, and Financial Management. He has been featured as a Who’s Who of American Educators since 2006.
Professor Chang is also Founder and Managing Partner for privately-held investment company PM Legacy Capital which, since 2000, has been managing funds and providing investment consulting services for clients in the US and Asia. He also serves as Managing Partner and CEO for Performance Assets Management, a private-equity firm operating in Taiwan and China, and Senior Managing Director at China Venture Finance, a venture leasing firm also operating in China. He has also served as independent director for USI, a publicly-listed company on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, and is Executor and Chairman of Legacy Education and the Daoxiao Foundation, both non-profits focused on education.
Dr. Chang was a decorated scholar at the University of Pennsylvania where he earned Bachelor degrees in electrical engineering and finance at the Wharton School. Then, in 2003, he received a Ph.D. in Finance from the Haas Business School at the University of California, Berkeley.
